Life Coaching and Individual Spiritual Direction
at Phoenix

Life coaching is a new service available at Phoenix which is not therapy or counseling, but rather a method whereby an individual is helped to remove the obstacles in their life which is blocking their success in business, family, spirituality or other relationships. The process takes a similar format as counseling (meeting once every week or other week with a coach) and a specially trained coach will work with you at improving your lifestyle, and work out the conflicts that keep you back from what you want.

Spiritual Direction in the Desert tradition has been around for over 1500 years, originally developed by Christian monks who had no access to the formal church while living in the desert. It has recently been modified to help anyone, from any religious background, understand and develop spirituality. For those in organized religion, spiritual direction helps the individual define for themselves questions such as "Who is God?", "How does God work in the world?" and "Where is God working in my life?". Spiritual direction then takes the form of helping you come to an understanding of how this concept and practice you formed of God fits into the organized structure of religion.

For those who are not interested in organized religion, Spiritual Direction helps an individual answer spiritual questions for themselves such as "Does God exist?" or "if God exists, how is God working in my life?" While spiritual direction is not therapy, it can take a similar format where a "client" meets with a "director" once or twice a month with the rest of the time being spent in contemplation exercises. If interest is maintained, Phoenix in the future may provide spiritual direction retreats.

NOTE: SPIRITUAL DIRECTION DOES NOT TAKE THE BELIEFS, PRACTICES OR DOCTRINE OF ANY FAITH OR RELIGION. IT ALLOWS THE INDIVIDUAL TO DEFINE THESE THINGS FOR THEMSELVES. IT IS NEVER ABOUT WHAT THE DIRECTOR BELIEVES, ONLY ABOUT WHAT YOU, THE DIRECTEE BELIEVE. IN THIS MANNER IT LEADS TO A SATISFYING SPIRITUAL LIFE THAT CANNOT BE DESCRIBED WITH WORDS.

Would You Like To Be Happier and More Content With Your Life No Matter What the Circumstances Are?
It's called LIFE-COACHING and Counseling and Consulting Services can help you find or regain your happiness without:

1. Drugs or Medications

2. Traditional Psychotherapy

3. Religious Teachings Apart From What You Bring To The Table

4. Organized Belief Systems of Any Kind

5. Expensive Group Meetings That Do Not Provide Individual Attention

Life coaching is short term help from a personal coach who knows you and your situation to help improve your business (school) and personal relationships, find the meaning in what you do and who you are, achieve your OWN success goals (not ones handed to you by a book or psychologist) and attain spiritual direction and peace.

Just like a sports coach is there to help an athlete reach the goals of sport through giving expert advice and concrete suggestions, a Life Coach does the same, helping overcome problems at the office (school), at home, with other relationships or any other area of YOUR life that YOU define.

Life Coaching is NOT counseling or therapy (although it is performed by specially trained, licensed counselors) and places the power of happiness and success for your life back into your hands.

Coaches are available to come to your home or office for services and you (along with anyone else you choose [e.g. spouse]) can be seen in the evening or on weekends. Your first session is free of charge. Note: Due to heavy demand, there is often a waiting list. So, if you are serious about changing your life, call today and give it a try for free.

Note: Life Coaching is perfect for, and works well for, college or high school students, especially where traditional counseling has failed.

Here are six fundamental basics to higher awareness and a spiritually developed life.

1. Control of thoughts. We must master our thoughts, particularly our train of thought. Just consider the way thoughts constantly circulate and bounce to the forefront of our minds like a monkey in a cage. It is not true that we govern our thoughts; our thoughts govern us completely. We must reach the point where, at a given time in the day, we can become so absorbed in a thought that no other thought can enter and disturb our soul. In this way, we hold the reins of thought life for awhile.

2. Control of our actions. Here it is necessary, occasionally at least, to act in ways that are not precipitated by anything external. Whatever is initiated by our place in life, our profession, or our situation does not lead more deeply into higher life. Higher life depends upon such intimate matters as one's resolve to do something that springs completely from one's own initiative--even if it is something absolutely insignificant. No other actions contribute anything to the higher life.

3. Equanimity. People fluctuate back and forth between joy and sorrow. Thus we allow ourselves to be overwhelmed by the waves of life. We must reach equanimity and steadiness. One must become steadfast and even-tempered.

4. Understand every being. Attempt to visualize yourself in the life of every being. Attempt and visualize for yourself a person from a different culture other than yours, a different sexual orientation other than yours. Imagine their thoughts and feelings to people rejecting or abusing them. (Be empathic)

5. Complete openness. Most people judge new things according to the old things they already know. But we must not confront a new communication immediately with our own opinion. We must instead always remain alert for the possibility of learning something new. We must develop the ability to listen, because it enables us to encounter matters with the greatest possible openness.

6. Inner harmony. Acceptance of the world being perfect as it is without judgment. We are at peace with ourselves and others without riding the turbulent waves of life.
